 The Sathya Sai School in Leicester is an independent, co-educational nursery, primary and secondary day school, which conforms to the conditions set out by the DCSF – Independent schools. It offers the National Curriculum supplemented and reinforced with values-based education.
The school opened on 3/09/01 with one class of reception/year one pupils. The school has and will expand yearly as each class progresses to the next stage.
The school started its humble beginnings in the Shree Sanatan Centre, on Belper Street, Leicester. From August 2009, it relocated to Narborough Road, Leicester. The new building is the Headquarters for the Sathya Sai Service Organisation U.K and is owned by the Sri Sathya Sai Charitiable Trust U.K.
The school will initially occupy the first floor and some parts of the ground floor. As the school grows in size, it will expand into the rest of the building.
The nursery & reception class, kitchen, dining room and girls toilets are on the ground floor, whilst the school offices (Head-teacher, Secretary), administration, staffroom, sick room are on the north & south mezzanine floors.
The primary, secondary classes, library and school hall will be located on the first floor.
A large car park is found at the side of the building and the schoolchildren and staff will use the car park to enter the building. The school’s private entrance is accessible through the car park. Visitors will use the front entrance to the building. The Nursery children will have an outdoor play/work area in the front of the building, whilst the rest of the school will use the outdoor playground, sectioned off in the car park area.
